Monastic Science Teacher Fellowship – Launch

(August 2 to 7, 2019)

This year we are launching a new teacher fellowship program to support active science teachers at the monasteries and nunneries. The goal of the fellowship is to support home-grown efforts to improve and strengthen education. The first convening took place at the Gaden Shartse Science Center. Eight fellowships were awarded for the 2019/2020 year. During our inaugural meeting, fellows developed and reflected on their teaching philosophies, their goals for their students, and practiced new strategies for developing lesson plans. During their fellowship year, fellows will film new teaching strategies they implement in their classroom, write about successful lessons, share dilemmas, and mentor one another.
