Sager Science Leadership Institute & 3rd Cohort Graduation

November saw our 3-week annual Sager Science Leadership Institute. Twenty five monks and nuns from 8 different monastic institutions met in Dharamsala and participated in their fourth and final 3-week training. During the intensive workshop the monastics worked on a variety of teams to finish their cohort projects. This work included finalizing the designs for a new hand-painted exhibition on particles; final edits on original articles on “what amazes me”; teaching their final science lesson on a special topic they developed as a team from their monastery/nunnery; and working in pairs to teach a short lesson on Buddhism using new and creative pedagogical strategies. The meeting also explored the world of tinkering and new ways of student-centered learning.
